The beautiful windmill is a photographer’s paradise. this is one of the most beautiful windmills i have ever seen. And now one about how to become a fool. In the summer of this year, I had a business trip with an educational program in the morning and free entertainment in the vineyard in the evening. For us Central Bohemians, it is always an experience to taste Moravian delicacies. Add to that a tour of wine production and a guided tasting at a relatively well-known and excellent Moravian winery. So where is the problem?
A photographer is like Don Quixote and his windmill?
So you can’t be too surprised at the confused faces when I told the organizers that I would sacrifice the evening program and go for a walk around the nearby windmill. He was only 30 km away. Yes, I know, the mill is photographed mainly in spring and autumn, when the flora and the low sun conjure up a unique atmosphere. So I knew and left with the feeling that I wouldn’t catch anything bad. I simply planned the trip as such a “slut” and a tour of the place. On the way to the mill, I cursed a few times to…
The goal is finally found, the mission accomplished and next time I know where to take photos from
A backpack with a tripod and water is my lot, it just goes without saying (in addition, photo backpacks tend to protect the equipment often at the expense of comfort on the back). I arrive at the location and run to the first selected location. But that’s not quite it. So I claw my way up through the lush vegetation. Well, the treetops spoil the view again. I therefore leave the place and walk straight to the mill.
This location is not to my liking either. But the mill is really beautiful and it is also inhabited. From him, I look around and look for where other photo enthusiasts are photographing him. Another and probably the only possibility is from the nearby hill. So I return again and head for the hill via the third route. Bingo, that’s it. So maybe sometime in spring or autumn, I will go to this hill again.
Photographers will understand why I sacrifice an interesting evening program. And for the purpose of surveying the terrain, walking in the early evening. In total, I walked about 6 km around the mill. And was it worth it?
Resolution, it was fine for me personally
Yes, even if it was just for the feeling. And in the end, a little satisfaction. A small award in the 1x.com curatorial gallery is probably a reward for all that hiking around. It is a rather unconventional view of the mill, which is not often seen. And that’s what I’m saying, a descendant of a miller’s family who simply had to see it.
